President's Message
by Barbara Phelps

Wow! Where has the time gone? We’re moving into the second month of 2007 and time is moving quickly.

As I sat at my computer writing this message I am reminded of our January program “What HR Professionals Need to Know about the new Electronic Discovery Rules” presented by Todd Leeson. It’s amazing how many emails we send and receive daily, yet we sometimes forget there are others in our organization or department who may find our message offensive or rude. Thanks Todd, for reminding us to think about the consequences, our tone and what we say when sending electronic messages to others.

Need help on an HR situation or issue? SHRM has plenty of beneficial resources and information available to our members. Visit our local website www.rvshrm.org and the national website www.shrm.org for information on legal updates, employee relation issues, white papers and other HR topics. Please utilize these tools that SHRM has made available to you.

Remember RVSHRM meets the 4th Tuesday of each month, so mark your calendars and make reservations for our February meeting at Hotel Roanoke. I hope to see you there.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me or one of our board members. Thanks for being a part of this organization.
